PADUCAH AMATEUR RADIO MINUTES 14 JULY, 2014
1. President Mike Newman called the meeting to order at 7:00pm, in        room 140, Emerging Technology Building.
2. Introductions by the members.
3. The Treasurer’s Report was given by club Treasurer Paul Smith and      approved.
4. Minutes from the June 9, 2014 meeting were read by Secretary               Gene Summers and approved.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Paul Smith mentioned that the FD went very well, and that the               W4NJA Summary sheet would be passed
around among the members attending. Final FD score was 5,810,           and we made 1,375 QSO’s. We also
achieved WAS this year, working the elusive Rhode Island!                         Congratulations and thanks to all who attended
FD!
NEW BUSINESS
1. Bruce Huyck VE, noted that those with expired Amateur licenses            can take the Element 2 exam, or Technician
Class, to regain their former Amateur Radio license, according to            the new FCC rules. Also, the new question
pool is out July 1st. Bruce added that the ARRL website has free              practice exams you can take, that now refer
you to the test manuals for more background theory on the                        questions.
2. Mike Newman wishes to thank ARES and EM for their generous              support during FD, lending us their EM bus,
fuel and time. Thank you!
3. Mike Newman mentioned that the W4NJA website has pop up Ads ,    which are not appropriate for our Club
and Amateur Radio in general. Mike made a motion to eliminate              these Ads by paying $30 annually to the
WordPress website to block them. Motion was seconded and                  approved. Rob Larrison given $30 to pay site.
4. Daniel Dunn, KG4JXH, mentioned the 443.000mHz KD4DVI                    repeater, PL tone 179.9, is available and has great
area coverage, and he would like to invite others to use the                          repeater more often. Daniel also wishes to start a
net on Thursday evenings at 9pm, for those interested.
5. Paul Smith also noted the second week of the ARRL Centennial and     W1AW/4 Kentucky is coming up July 30,
and those interested in operating in it should contact Tim Totten,           N4GN via email.
6. Logan Blewett, KG4VKB did a Presentation on Echolink. Thanks            Logan!
