Field Day 2014 Starts Saturday June 28th

Hello Everyone,

Please remember that this Saturday and Sunday is Field Day !!!

We need some members to show up at around 6 AM Saturday (yea – I know that is early Ha Ha), to secure the covered shelters that we will use.  Mike Newman is one of the early risers, and will help lead that effort.

Some of the other members are meeting at Cracker Barrel by the mall around 6 AM.  Contact AB4IQ if you wish to join the group there.

The main setup effort will start around 8 AM.

Please come out and join us for 30 minutes anytime or the entire operating period.  Everyone is welcome.

CW Operators Needed For Field Day

The Field Day team has asked me to put out a call for CW operators at Field Day.

If you want to operate CW, please email Ed here.  10 minutes or 10 hours, just let Ed know.

Of course, we will have plenty of operator openings at the GOTA, SSB, and Mixed Mode (SSB/RTTY/CW) stations.  Come on out and enjoy the fun at the end of this month.

More planning will occur at Monday’s regular monthly club meeting.

Thanks

Paul – ND4X

Hi Everyone,  We’re right on track with the P’ton, KY Hamfest.  We hope you have already made plans to bring a truck load of friends and a truck load of treasure to trade, to our third ever, fest.  I’ll include the flyer down below, but I’d like to high lite some of the key points of the weekend here in Princeton.
The Pennington Folk Music Festival begins Friday on the Butler Campus at 6:00 PM.  Check out the Festival page on facebook for more details.  If you like Blues, you have got to stay up late for Alonzo Pennington on Friday night at 9:30.  He is a fantastic musician.  Bring your lawn chairs and a jacket.  Some of the previous 16 years have been cool at night.
Our Radio Fest opens for sellers and vendors at 6:00 AM on Saturday morning.  We still have tables available, but call or e-mail asap to reserve what you need.  Tables are FREE!!  Coffee is FREE this year, too!!  Still only $5 to get in.  Doors open to the masses at 8:00 AM.  Correct change will help.  The RED CROSS will have a bake sale.  ARRL VE’s will test at 9:00 AM.  Ed Plfueger will check qsl cards again this year.  We expect an ARES forum around 10:30 or 11:00.  Grilled Burgers and Dogs will again be offered, so please eat lunch with us.  We will have enough door prizes to give away, to have a drawing every ten minutes.  Maybe even more.  We’ll cap off the fest by giving away an Icom 718 HF radio.  Sorry, but you must be present to claim your prizes.  And, one prize per ticket will be the rule………….
The Free music festival continues all day Saturday,  with a talent contest beginning at 10:00 AM.  Music goes late into the night, too.  Rhonda Vincent and the Rage will head line the event, this year.  WOW!!!  What a BlueGrass sound…………..
What a great weekend to be in Princeton, KY.  Come see us if you can.  Rain or shine on both fests.
Please forward this e-mail to everyone on your ham or music contact list.  Do not be bashful with the forwarding!!!  See ya very soon, here in Princeton……………..Best wishes…………Mike Taylor……………President…………..Princeton Ham Radio Club……………..
